Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize the cultures, traditions and contributions of Hispanic and Latino communities—and to celebrate the employees who bring those experiences and perspectives to RYAM.
Meet Jeanevette Miranda, Supervisor, Product Quality, at our Fernandina Beach plant. Her Puerto Rican heritage has shaped her values, family traditions and the pride she brings to her work.
For Jeanevette, Hispanic Heritage Month is both a celebration and an opportunity to recognize those who came before her.
“To me, Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the contributions Hispanics have made while honoring the sacrifices and accomplishments of those who came before us. My Puerto Rican heritage has taught me the importance of hard work, resilience and taking pride in everything I do.”
After moving from Puerto Rico to the mainland United States, Jeanevette made it a priority to continue sharing Puerto Rican traditions with her children. One of her favorites is Christmas—a tradition her coworkers have also come to know well.
“My coworkers know how much I love it. In Puerto Rico, the Christmas season begins as soon as Halloween ends, so I have happily brought that tradition with me—even into my office!”
For Jeanevette, Hispanic Heritage Month is also an opportunity to learn from one another and appreciate the many cultures represented across RYAM.
“I encourage everyone to learn about and celebrate the many cultures represented at RYAM because our different backgrounds and experiences make us stronger together.”
Jeanevette’s story reminds us that the traditions and experiences we carry with us are part of what connects us. By sharing them, we learn more about one another, strengthen our relationships and celebrate the diversity of our RYAM community.
