We want everyone who visits the RYAM website to feel welcome and find the experience rewarding, going above and beyond the recommendations stated in Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act 1998.

What are we doing?

To help us make the RYAM website a positive place for everyone, we’ve been referring to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with disabilities, more compatible with assistive technology, and more user friendly for everyone.

The guidelines have three levels of accessibility (A, AA and AAA). We’ve chosen Level AA as the target for the RYAM website.

How are we doing?

We have conducted manual testing on Windows and Mac computers and used automated testing.

The following pages/documents included in the scope of work are representative of the pages on the website and have been tested:

  • Home
  • Our Business
  • Contact Us
  • Accessibility Statement
  • Global Elements (Header, Footer, Navigation, Search)
As part of our dedication to inclusivity, we have implemented several accessibility features to enhance the user experience for individuals with diverse needs.

One of these essential features is our “High Contrast Mode,” designed specifically to cater to users with visual impairments or sensitivity to bright colors. To activate this mode, simply click on the “HC” button located in the top-right corner of your browser. Once enabled, our website’s color scheme will transform into a high-contrast format, enhancing text readability and providing better visibility for important elements.

We understand the importance of creating an inclusive digital environment, and we strive to ensure that our website is accessible to everyone. Alongside the High Contrast Mode, we have taken other measures to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) to improve navigation, readability, and overall user-friendliness.

There are some areas of our website, provided by 3rd party vendors, that we have learned may not be accessible or usable by everyone equally. We have contacted those providers and requested that they correct any code that does not comply with the WCAG 2.1 Level AA guidelines and we will update those areas as soon as possible. Excluded areas include the following:

  • Google Recaptcha
  • Revolution Slider
  • Youtube Embedded Players

We will monitor the website regularly to maintain our ongoing commitment to delivering a site that is accessible to the largest possible audience. If you have any concerns about the usability of our site or find a feature that is inaccessible, please contact us using the information below. We will make every reasonable effort to accommodate requests.
