Human Rights & Responsible Business Practices

Overview

Rayonier Advanced Materials (RYAM) is committed to respecting human rights and promoting responsible business practices across our operations and supply chain.

Our approach is grounded in internal policies, supported by operational systems, and aligned with internationally recognized human rights principles.

Our Framework

RYAM’s Human Rights Policy aligns with widely recognized international standards, including:

  • The United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights
  • The United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights
  • Core conventions of the International Labour Organization (ILO)

These frameworks inform our expectations for employees, contractors, and suppliers and guide how we manage human rights risks across our business.

Workforce & Labor Practices

RYAM promotes safe, fair, and respectful working environments across our operations. Our approach includes:
  • Maintaining workplace health and safety programs
  • Providing employee training and development
  • Supporting equal opportunity and non-discrimination
  • Upholding policies that address workplace conduct and ethics
Employee safety is a core priority. RYAM maintains a global safety program that includes process safety management, contractor safety integration, and continuous performance monitoring. These programs apply to employees and contractors working at our facilities. For additional detail on our safety approach and performance, see our safety disclosure. These practices are supported by internal policies, training programs, and operational oversight structures.

Supply Chain Approach

RYAM’s supply chain is primarily composed of suppliers operating in the United States, Canada, and France—jurisdictions with well-established legal and regulatory frameworks governing labor and human rights practices.

As part of our sourcing approach, we:

Establish expectations through internal policies and standards

Prioritize sourcing from suppliers operating in regulated markets

Rely on applicable legal frameworks to support baseline labor protections

This structure supports a responsible sourcing approach while aligning with the geographic footprint of our operations.

Supplier Oversight & Risk Management

RYAM applies a risk-based approach to supplier oversight.

We do not maintain a universal supplier audit program, but we retain the ability to assess supplier practices where risks are identified. This may include:

Reviewing supplier practices

Conducting targeted assessments or audits

Addressing concerns through engagement or corrective actions

This approach allows RYAM to focus oversight efforts where they are most relevant, while maintaining efficiency across a largely low-risk supplier base.

Continuous Improvement

RYAM continues to evaluate opportunities to strengthen human rights and responsible business practices. This includes ongoing policy alignment, operational improvements, and responsiveness to evolving stakeholder expectations.
