At RYAM, keeping products moving from mill to market requires precision, coordination, and constant problem-solving. For Tyler Holmes, Commercial Logistics Manager in Jacksonville, that responsibility sits at the center of his day-to-day work.
With more than three years at the company, Tyler helps ensure the seamless flow of materials across a complex global network. Partnering with Plant Operations, Commercial Sales, Customer Service, Sourcing, and external logistics providers, he identifies efficiencies, solves disruptions, and keeps supply chain operations on track.
In a role that spans multiple teams and external partners, Tyler focuses on building trust through clear communication, taking ownership of outcomes, and ensuring reliable delivery for customers. His work supports both operational efficiency and the high-quality standards RYAM is known for.
“No two days are the same,” Tyler says. “I’m constantly working across the business to solve problems and improve how we operate.”
A Career Built on Connection and Curiosity
Growing up in Jacksonville—a major logistics hub—Tyler developed an early interest in supply chain operations. Inspired by his grandfather’s career in oil industry logistics, he saw firsthand how critical coordination and execution are to business success.
He joined RYAM in chemical sourcing before transitioning into logistics, broadening his experience across procurement and supply chain functions. That cross-functional exposure shaped his approach to the role today.
“One of the biggest things I’ve learned is how much stronger outcomes are when teams are aligned around a common goal,” he says.
Turning Complexity into Opportunity
In logistics, challenges are constant—from supply chain disruptions to shifting customer demands. Tyler focuses on turning that complexity into actionable solutions that support both internal teams and external partners.
Success in the role depends on strong communication, strategic thinking, and relationship-building.
“Any success I’ve had reflects the teamwork across the organization,” Tyler says. “It takes alignment across multiple groups to make it all work.”
Looking Ahead
As RYAM continues to evolve, Tyler is focused on supporting growth through improved processes and stronger partnerships across the supply chain.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to grow with the company and contributing to what’s next,” he says.
Beyond the Office
Outside of work, Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife and son and getting out on the golf course. He’s also a fan of epic storytelling, with favorites including Harry Potter and The Lord of the Rings.
His advice is simple:
“Always treat the janitor with the same respect you would show a CEO.”
