Robert M. Sommers

Mr. Sommers is Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of RYAM, effective September 28, 2026.

Prior to joining RYAM, Mr. Sommers served as Director and Associate General Counsel, Food & Household, at Graphic Packaging International, where he advised executive leadership on commercial agreements, dispute resolution and litigation. Before that, he spent more than 13 years with J.M. Huber Corporation, rising to Vice President and General Counsel of its CP Kelco U.S., Inc. business. There he advised executives and boards on governance, compliance, commercial transactions, regulatory matters and mergers and acquisitions, led global legal and compliance teams, and supported the sale of CP Kelco to Tate & Lyle PLC. Following the acquisition, he continued as General Counsel of CP Kelco U.S. and later served as Vice President and Associate General Counsel, Global Operations, at Tate & Lyle.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Sommers served as General Counsel, Americas, for EFACEC and as General Counsel of Anthony Timberlands.

Mr. Sommers holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, an MBA and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Seton Hall University. He is an active member of the Georgia Bar.
