Safety and Wellness
Our People Are Our Highest Priority
Safety is an essential part of our culture. We’re committed to ensuring all our employees go home injury-free every day. That means maintaining a safe, healthy, and respectful working environment that prioritizes the wellness of our employees and contractors.
To help our managers and supervisors create a safe workplace, we created our Extraordinary Safety Leader (ESL) and front-line leader training programs. The programs integrate internationally recognized best management safety practices, embodies our commitment to a safe and healthy workplace, and provides for leadership skills development.
The ESL helps our employees better understand risks and take action to minimize accidents from occurring in the first place. If an accident happens, our safety teams immediately investigate and share incident reports throughout the facility and company to improve safety for everyone.
A healthy workforce is a safer workforce. RYAM provides competitive benefits and wellness programs to our employees with options for coverage that meets their needs and supports a safer, healthier workplace.
Diversity and Inclusion
Respected, Encouraged, Valued — We are Better Together
We Are RYAM!
Attracting, retaining and developing a talented workforce—one that reflects the communities in which we operate—is imperative at RYAM. Our Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group (DIAG), comprised of employees at all levels and locations in the company, offers feedback directly to RYAM’s senior leadership as part of the company’s strong commitment to value people, share experiences, and create a diverse and inclusive workplace.
At RYAM, we want people to be their authentic selves. Inclusion and diversity are not simply important ideas, they are essential values ingrained in our business because of our strong Respect for People.
RYAM is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive workplace that values new ways of thinking, different backgrounds, abilities, experiences, and talents. Simply put, we believe diverse perspectives yield better results.
RYAM believes in listening to its employees. That’s why employees are encouraged to participate in a yearly survey, which is reviewed and acted upon by the company’s senior leadership.

Respecting Human Rights
In addition to respecting human dignity in our operations, we require that our suppliers and business partners uphold the same standards, as reflected in our Supplier Code of Conduct.
Furthermore, we recognize that there are many declarations and policy statements that set forth international human rights principles, including the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and The International Labor Organization’s (ILO) Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. These principles are embedded throughout our business, integrated into our values, and activated through the Diversity and Inclusion Advisory Group and employee training.
